GALA SPRING BENEFIT

"Imagine a world where the boogyman walks by you every day and
you have to salute him...a childhood where you have already been
captured by monsters, and everyone you know...disappears."

This is the first sentence of a review by Travis Baker of the show I Never
Saw Another Butterfly, the powerful and poignant story of Jewish children in
Terezin concentration camp during the Holocaust.

At our production of Butterfly last spring at the Mazer Theatre, the reaction was overwhelming. One viewer said “I knew about the horrors of the Holocaust, but never realized what the children suffered.”

The glowing response and the support we gained has greatly encouraged us in our determination to bring the play to the extended audience it deserves. Butterfly is moving to a larger theatre and a longer run so that audiences of all ages and backgrounds can experience this classic and enduring tale. The children of Terezin have left us a powerfull legacy, the miracle of courage and the survival of the spirit.

The mission of Tom Cat Cohen Productions, Inc., a non profit theatre company is to present significant and appropriate theatre produced for and performed by both young people and adults. This spring we will present the musical Pets at the New 42nd Street Theatre at Westside Dance Project. Future projects include the play Miracles, While Childhood Slept, a new musical about the Holocaust and our Primary objective, moving
I Never Saw Another Butterfly to an off-Broadway venue.

SAVE THIS DATE Thursday May 3, 2001 for our gala benefit celebration, to take place at The Synod House at St. John’s Cathedral. Our primary focus is to raise funds for further productions of Butterfly, to broadcast its message of hope and humanity and our pledge that ‘we shall never forget’. The voices of the children of Terezin deserve to be heard by all.

Please join us in honoring the memories of these very special children. We thank you for your support in the past and we look forward to your continued support. It will be because of friends like you that we can bring this play to its destined audiences.
Mark the date on your calender make plans to attend the benefit! Invitations will be mailed in April.
